Another hot day!

Beth and I have breakfast, then I'm off to a meeting. By the time I'm back, it's time for the pool.

Beth swims most of the afternoon. I work in my outdoor, poolside office nearby.

In the afternoon,we go out to meet a friend, Sarah and her sister, Lucy. Lucy and Beth are remarkably similar -- the same size, born the same year, the same glasses, even haircuts look the same. Lucy has three brothers, just like us, and she has two sisters.

Lucy's favorite hobby is making hooked rugs -- that used to be Beth's favorite, too. Lucy is a sweet girl, shy with us, but also interested. She thought it was neat that Beth has three bedrooms -- one in KC, one at Mike's, and one at Ken's. We took along one of Beth's pictures to show them what she likes to do.

We all had some ice cream and chatted a bit. We learned that Lucy lives in a group home with three roommates and 24/7 care. She's also part of a program that has activities every day -- all kinds of things, going to movies, visiting the zoo or the farm, playing games. Her family takes her for visits on the weekends. Sarah said it's been great for Lucy, with good care at the group home.

It was a fun meeting until a big storm threatened and we figured we'd better get home before it hit. I think Beth and Lucy can become friends and might enjoy spending some time together. Lucy said she'd like to see our house. We'll arrange another meeting in November.

It was a huge storm! We had dinner at home while the rain fell. We had planned to go to Poppy's T-ball game, but the rain canceled that.

Tomorrow is a busy day.
