It starts out as a beautiful day -- hot and bright.
After a little breakfast, we get ready for swimming: The Billingsley crew is coming over and another family, the Binghams, who have two girls the same ages as Lily and Poppy. Patsy comes by, too, and she brings along a little terrier that she rescued from the freeway near her office. It's a cute little thing, and Lily wanted to adopt it but her parents said no.
We had snacks with all the kids and they drew great chalk pictures all around the pool -- an octupus, several butterflies, hearts, peace symbols!
Everyone had a great time. Beth really liked the Binghams, she talked to them nonstop. When she was introduced to Scott Bingham, she said, "Oh, I have a brother named Scott ..." and then launched into the entire raft of memories about Scott!
After they all left, we got cleaned up to go to the grocery, bank and post office. We had to get a few things for a little party that night.
But all afternoon, it poured! Heavy storms, right up to about 6 p.m.
Beth looked really nice. She wore Phuong's pretty leopard-print top with a pair of black slacks, and I fixed her hair a little. She was really chatty with everyone and loved it when I put the food on the table.
She turned in a little after 9, she could barely keep her eyes open. But what fun!
