Beth's July 2010 Visit

July 2, 2010

Up early, check the computer for an update on Beth's flight this morning. Wow! It's going to be a half-hour early! I shift into high speed to be able to get out to the airport, through the rush hour traffic. I get there and see the signs change on the board: delayed. Oh well.

She arrives without any difficulty, chattering away, happy as can be. We go home and she gets settled in her room, putting all her stuff out and just the way she likes it.

Then she comes down and gets her station set up at the little French bistro table. She gets out her pens, paper and previous art work. Pens all lined up, in order. Books in the corner. Pile of napkins. Then sort through my CDs until they are in an order that she prefers (well, why should all the classical music be in the same pile?)

Settled in.

We have a little lunch (grilled cheese sandwich and an apple) and then Beth and Tom go off grocery shopping.

When supplies are all put away, it's time for a swim. Beth gets ready and gets in the pool. Ahhhh! She's splashing away, having a great time, giggling all the while. Then on the float -- naptime!

We have grilled orange chicken and mixed veggies, with a little chilled Gewurztraminer. It's a lovely evening.

When we go inside, we see that The Wizard of Oz is showing. Beth is soon singing along ... until she gets tired. Up to bed, 8:30 p.m. It's been a long and fun day.
