More catching up:
Sunday, April 25 was action packed!
We had a nice leisurely breakfast at home -- omelets with asparagus & feta, toast, potatoes with onions and peppers. Kay wrote out beautiful calligraphy for all of us, even for Scott and Pan!
In the afternoon, we went over to Patsy's house for family dinner, all of us, Tom and Nancy, Beth and Kay. Everyone was there, and Kay was a big hit with Graham. The babies are just starting to walk, so it was fun to watch them playing. Dinner was great, and Beth liked cuddling with Patsy's cat Troy, who's very affectionate.
After dinner, we left for another party -- a concert downtown at the Gem Theater at 18th and Vine! It was a Jazz Cabaret, with the Wild Women of Kansas City -- go have a listen -- and Tim Whitmer and a whole flock of absolutely top-flight musicians. They did some great songs and it was an amazing show.
On Monday, it was back to the usual routine -- mostly. We had to say goodbye to Kay and her friends; they had one more stop in Kansas City before they head back home to Taiwan.
Later Beth went with Tom to a meeting downtown at the Irish Museum, where she had a sandwich and one of the ladies even took her for ice cream. She loved it!
That evening, we went downtown to meet our friends Paul and Gail who always love to see Bethie. We had pizza at a nice little shop and watch the sun shining through a rainstorm. It was a nice time.
On Tuesday, nothing much to report. Beth had pancakes and fruit for breakfast-- that was a hit! She stayed around the house with us, swept the floor, and went out with Tom for a little bit to the restaurant. She had a good workout at Curves.
We had dinner at home -- a good jambalaya dish with chicken and sausage and lots of veggies. Good to have a relaxing day!
On Wednesday, another day with Curves. Then we went to Aixois for a great dinner with our friends Aften and Don, and Tim and Janet. (We always go to the Thanksgiving fireworks and concert with Aften; and Don usually has his banjo and likes to sing with Beth.) Dinner was really great, Beth loved her rotisserie chicken, fries and salad, and then she REALLY loved the dessert -- she ordered the homemade chocolate ice cream and then got to finish off Don's chocolate fondue!
Thursday was mostly at home. Nancy did a lot of work from home, and then we took a break and did a little shopping for Beth. Beth did her chores her, sweeping the floor and setting the table for dinner. We had a really tasty pasta with chicken, broccoli, asparagus, mushrooms, peppers and a little creamy cheese sauce. It was yummy, Beth really liked it. Strawberries and a little ice cream made Beth really happy before bedtime.
Friday morning -- that means Rotary meeting! Beth loves to go to this meeting, mostly because of the nice breakfast buffet but she also gets to shake hands with lots of people who know her now. She also stands up and waves at everyone when they introduce her -- she likes being in the spotlight for a minute or two.
After that, Beth and Tom went to the shop and to the post office and running errands. Later, we went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant. Beth had a pork and bean burrito and she loved it! Ate every bit. We called Mike when we got home, wanted to let him know that Beth would now be coming home on Monday instead of Saturday -- she now is on a direct flight instead of one with a layover.
Now it's Saturday morning -- We found a MayDay basket on our front door, a gift from Patsy -- what fun!
Beth had waffles and fruit for breakfast, yummy she said. We may go shopping, maybe go to the Brookside Art Fair. Lily has a baseball game this afternoon, unless it rains.
More to come!
